Update

I'm currently hip-deep in revisions on the first book in the Moonstone Bay series, The Whispering Ferns and the chapter posted before is no longer. In an attempt to speed things up and get to Washington much quicker, I've eliminated most of chapters one and two, incorporating them into a new beginning!

So far I'm quite happy with the way it's sounding. I'm also expanding a few roles in the story and adding an adversarial character, of sorts.

The results from the contest the manuscript has been entered in will be announced sometime in the next sixty days, after that, Smith will be sent out into the world to find an agent!
